في ذكرى السنة الأولى لشراء كنيسة مار يوسف

أبناء رعيتي الأحباء ، أيها الأصدقاء المحبوبون بالرب

بمناسبة احتفالنا بذكرى السنة الاولى لشراء كنيستنا واقامة أول قداس فيها في 15 آب 2004 الذي يصادف فيه عيد انتقال سيدتنا العذراء الى السماء .

يسرّني وبهذه المناسبة السعيدة وقلبي طافح بالفرح والسعادة ومفعم بالسلام والطمأنينة لأجّدد شكري وامتناني الخالص لكم جميعا كبارا وصغارا ، سادة وسيدات ، شباب وشابات ولكل من ساهم وتعب وعمل لاقتناء كنيستنا هذه من أبناء رعيتنا ومن الطوائف الشقيقة الأخرى من كلدان وارثودكس وآثوريين .

وهنا يجدر القول بي بأن شعبنا المشرقي ، العراقي والمصري والسوري واللبناني حمل الى عالم الانتشار عظمة الايمان وغنى التقاليد الشرقية العريقة والتعلق بالايمان والتراث حتى اصبح قدوة في الغربة ، وأكبر مثال يدّل عليه باصابع الافتخار وهو رعيتنا بحمد الله كانت ولا تزال مثالا لامعا في الحفاظ على القيم الأدبية والاخلاقية المسيحية ، وخلقت مناخا ملائما للعيش المشترك حيث جمعت تحت جناحيها من جميع الطوائف الشقيقة الأخرى . وما هذه المناسبة التي بها نحتفل الا دليل مفخرة للانجازات التي تحققت بجهود الخيرين من ابناء الرعية والاصدقاء .

نرفع الصلوات الى العزّة الالهية بشفاعة حامي هذه الرعية مار يوسف البتول ، طالبين اليه أن يبارك نشاط أبناء الرعية ، خاصة فيما يقرّرون من مشاريع وما يتخذون من قرارات تتعلق بمستقبل الرعية ، فتكون في مستوى الأهمية والمسؤولية سائرين على خطى الذين اسسوا ورفعوا بناء الأمس والذي اصبح اليوم غير واف لرعية كبر عددها وعظم شانها علما بأن الكنيسة مطلوبة لمطرانية تورنتو اللاتينية لحد اليوم ( 350 ) ألف دولار .

أيها الأحباء :

أملي ورجائي فيكم في العطاء والسخاء ليس له حدود ، بانكم لا تبخلون لكنيسة الرب من هباتكم وتبرعاتكم مهما كان الثمن ، فانتم الذين كانوا دعامة قوية لشراء هذه الكنيسة ستكونون دوما السباقين لكل احتياجات كنيستكم .. وثقتي بكم عالية بايفاء الديون المترتبة على كنيستكم في القريب العاجل من خلال تبرعاتكم ودعمكم المالي والمعنوي وذلك بحضوركم ومشاركتكم الفعّالة في نشاطات الكنيسة وتسديد الاشتراك السنوي .

بهذه المناسبة الميمونة ، أدعو اخواني في مجلس الرعية الى رصّ صفوف التعاون ، والى تحمّل مسؤولياتهم تجاه الكنيسة لخلق اطارات جديدة تكون للأجيال الطالعة مرجعا روحيا أخلاقيا في مستوى متطلبات العصر الجديد .

اهنئكم اعزائي من صميم القلب ، واسال الله بشفاعة مار يوسف البتول أن ينمي الايمان في نفوسكم وينعش روح التقوى والوحدة في قلوبكم فتبقوا أوفياء لتاريخ مجيد وتراث عريق وتقاليد كنسية خالدة ، هي دائما موضوع احترام واكبار ، وعلى امل أن تكون هذه المناسبة مجلبة خير وبركة عليكم جميعا وعلى عوائلكم وأطفالكم ، أتمنى للجميع تقدما ونجاحا في جميع مشاريعكم . استودعكم نعمة الرب وبركاته .

Pastoral Letter

On the First Anniversary of Our Acquiring

the Church of St Joseph

My Beloved Parishioners and Friends in Jesus

A year ago we purchased our church building and in it we celebrated the first Mass on the 15^th of August 2004. This is the feast-day of the Assumption of our Virgin Lady Mary to Heaven.

On this occasion, I would like to express once again my thanks to you and my deep appreciation of you. You all participated, toiled, and worked hard to acquire this church, whether you are members of our congregation or members of the sister congregations—the Chaldean, Syriac Orthodox and Assyrian ones.

I ought to say that our people carried with them from the East to the world the greatness of their Faith and the wealth of the Eastern Christian traditions. Our congregation strives to live the moral and spiritual values of our own expression of Christianity, expression rooted geographically and culturally in the same soil from which the Gospels—the Good News—sprung up. Our congregation insists to celebrate its Liturgy in the very language of Jesus, and moreover, she brings together under one roof its own members and members of other congregations, who meet and pray with a common heart. We ought to celebrate with justified pride these wonderful achievements, your achievements.

I raise my hands in prayer to Almighty God and through the intercession of the guardian of this congregation, Saint Joseph the righteous, so that He may bless you all. I pray Him to guide you when you discuss projects and take decisions that affect the future of our congregation, so that she may stay faithful to Him, to her own traditions, and to her commitment to her members. We thank God for the fact that our congregation is steadily growing, in such a way that our new church building is not even large enough to accommodate all her members!

Dear Brothers and Sister:

We currently owe the Archdiocese of Toronto the sum of $350,000.00, part of the loan that we took to purchase our church. As we must pay this amount, the sooner the better, I address your generosity and sense of giving, knowing that you never close your hands when it comes to the church of the Lord, whatever the price. I have great faith in you, that through your donations and moral and financial support this debt will be paid very quickly. Your active participation in the activities of the church and payment of your annual membership dues also contribute toward reducing our debt.

I wholeheartedly congratulate you for all what you have done so far. Through the intercession of Saint Joseph, I pray so that your Faith may be nurtured inside you and that your sense of unity may be strengthened among you. May this first anniversary of the purchasing of our church bring you all blessings. Amen.
