Youth Group Election

Last week on January 28th, 2007 and after the regular Sunday mass, an election was held to elect the new youth group of St. Joseph Syriac Catholic Parish.

Prior to the election process Fr. Yousif Abba spoke to the youth group and discussed leadership roles and responsibilities for the Youth Group and the tasks of their designated positions. He added that the youth group empowers youth to accept responsibility and become leaders within the group and in the church and community.

Fr. Yousif started to describe the on-going tasks of the youth group such as planning activities; calling group members and; coordinating special events. Also he encouraged assuming leadership roles in the group, e.g. chair, secretary, treasurer, liaison to the church counsel board, denominational representative.

Then after submitting nominees for the youth group, the election results are as follows:

Members of the Youth Group will serve for a term of one year from the date of their election until the following Annual meeting.

After the election results were announced, Fr. Yousif encouraged all the parish youths to support their new leaders by sending them program ideas, suggestions on improving the Youth Group, and by joining in the meetings and events.
